Key Background
Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), the global aviation services leader, is pleased to announce a strategic deal for the purchase of 10 brand new Boeing 737‑9 aircraft from United Airlines and their leasing back on long-term leases. The delivery is anticipated in August 2025 through February 2026, a significant addition to DAE’s North American lease book.
DAE CEO Firoz Tarapore reiterated that the transaction further reinforces their alliance with United Airlines. In his opinion, the transaction aligns with DAE’s strategy of creating alliances with large airlines to assist in financing their planned fleet renewal and growing DAE’s managed fleet with newer fuel-efficient airplanes.
The Boeing 737‑9 of the Boeing MAX family features CFM International LEAP‑1B engines and the latest winglet technology on board. The technology improves approximately 20% fuel economy and carbon emissions reductions compared to older single-aisle aircraft with enhanced passenger comfort as well as increased flight reliability.
DAE boasts an enormous global fleet of about 750 aircraft, 225 of which are Boeing. This purchase-and-leaseback transaction not only contributes to DAE’s fleet of state-of-the-art aircraft but seals its vision for growth in the aviation leasing business, particularly in North America where there is still increasing demand for fuel-efficient planes.
