Key Background

Abu Dhabi airports that have a total of five airports and flagship airport terminal Zayed International transported 15.8 million passengers in the first half of 2025. That’s an increase of 13.1% from the same period last year. Even more so relative to some airspaces’ 12-day suspension of activity in light of Iran-Israel tensions resulting in flight diversion and operational inconvenience.

The operator recorded 133,533 movements in the half-year to date, 9.2% higher on H1 2024. Zayed International alone recorded 93,858 aircraft movements in H1 2025, 11.4% higher than 84,286 seen in the prior half-year of 2024. This indicates the robustness of the airport operator to regional disruption with levels of performance that remain exceptional.

Abu Dhabi Airports also boosted its global connectivity by 16 new routes. Key news are China Eastern boosting daily frequencies to Shanghai by September, Air Seychelles boosting six weekly frequencies, and IndiGo launching some new routes. These again rank Zayed International as the best connected airport within the UAE and as a global traveling hub.

Cargo operations surged with 344,795 tonnes reused in H1 2025, supported by bettered logistics and adding indigenous trade demand. CEO Elena Sorlini credited the platoon’s client- concentrated approach and functional dexterity for the company’s nonstop growth band gauging 17 diggings. The strong performance underlines Abu Dhabi’s strategic part as both a passenger and weight mecca in the Gulf region.
